Choosing an RC Plane can be a very difficult task. With so many different designs and types of planes, it can sometimes seem overwhelming. However, if you do find a plane that is right for you, you will be able to fly with confidence in no time. So in order to determine which plane might be best for you, we are going to examine several different types of planes, and what those plane’s purposes are.

A plane like the one above is a great choice for people with intermediate flying experience. The lightweight of the plane allows for great handling and high speeds in decent weather conditions. However, this plane can become quite difficult to handle when wind speeds are above 20 mph. The winds can quickly send this lightweight plane crashing into the ground with a huge gust. So be sure to check the weather before taking a plane like this for a ride. If you would prefer a micro RC plane that can easily fly through tough winds, you might want to consider a plane like the one below.

This RC fighter jet is great for flying through high wind speeds. The plane’s heavy weight allows it to stay on course through bad weather. Although this plane can bank fairly well, it has a tough time switching directions quickly. This plane is a great choice for people who like to be able to fly in even the toughest conditions. Another added benefit of this plane is its high durability. If this plane does happen to take a nose dive towards the ground, it will more than likely survive the crash in once piece because of its sturdy frame. However, if you are looking for something other than a fighter jet, there are some great options out there.

The vintage RC Planes shown above are great for several reasons. The upside of these planes is that they have great control at high speeds. This makes those planes great for performing aerial stunts. The bad news is that a rough landing could spell the end of your plane. So be sure that you stay within range of your plane and have a safe spot to land it. These stunt planes are for more advanced pilots who have experience banking at high speeds. A turn at the wrong time could have disastrous results.
However, if you are skilled enough to master one of these planes, it can have great rewards. You cannot only show off some awesome tricks to your friends, but you can also win some competitions. Just remember that you should not attempt to fly one of these planes until you have mastered flying several different types of planes.

Now, the best plane that I would recommend for beginners is the B52 Bomber shown above. This electric RC Plane offers solid control at medium speeds. This means that your plane should not ever be out of range, and should be able to handle whatever maneuvers needed at a solid speed. The other benefit is that this plane is very strong, so if you do happen to lose control; your plane should remain in one piece after a crash. With 2 engines on each side, this is a great plane to start off with. Once you have mastered a plane like this, you should feel comfortable upgrading to something a little more advanced.

The two planes shown above are strictly for advanced pilots who would like to show off their skills in competitions. Made out of titanium alloy, these planes can make it through any crash that doesn’t involve solid pavement. These planes are some of the fastest on the market. Not only are they fast, but they can handle extremely well at top speed. If you are looking to perform breath taking stunts at high speeds, than these may be the planes for you. Although they have a steep price tag, they are worth it if you serious about flying RC Planes. These versatile planes are the cream of the crop in the RC Airplane competition world. Now that we have looked at civilian operated planes, let’s take a look at RC planes used by the military.

This extremely expensive plane is used to gather military intelligence. With unbelievable speed and handling, this plane would put any other RC plane to shame. Used mainly for special operations and collecting intelligence, this plane has saved many lives. With the ability to launch weapons and provide video feed to military leaders, this RC plane is the Rolls Royce of radio controlled planes. You will never be able to find anything like this for sale at a regular retailer. Your best chance to get to use a plane like this is to join the military.
If you do have the opportunity to buy a plane like this on the black market, it may cost you several hundred thousand dollars. However, you may not want to go showing it off, at least in the United States. If someone were to see you with this plane you may end up on the FBI’s most wanted list. So if you are looking for an option that doesn’t carry such a high profile and price tag, you may want to consider the plane below.

This plane offers the same type of speed and handling as the military RC plane. However, it does not come with all of the spy technology and weaponry. So you may just have to settle for an imaginary aerial assault. Just be careful that you do not fly this plane into a tree or telephone pole, because it is not as sturdy as the military version.
Whatever your RC plane requirements are, there is certainly a plane out there that can meet those needs. Now that we have discussed the basic types of RC airplanes available, we can explore more unique planes. Just remember that whatever plane you choose, you need to stay safe and stay smart.
